“I think throughout history, humans have always had a propensity to explore.  To go beyond whatever the confines are that we know.  At one point that was to go across oceans.  Across lands.  And now?  It’s to go beyond our planet.” – Major Ann C. McClain, U.S. Army

Since it’s inception in 1958, NASA has accomplished a wide array of milestones in air and space exploration.  Now several military members will be joining the ranks of the elite astronaut core.  Two U.S. Army soldiers, out of 6,000 NASA applicants, made it to the prestigious astronaut class of 2013.
